Dubai Auto Zone Company Formation

About DAZ

Established in 2000, Dubai Auto Zone, or DAZ, is an established automobile industry with the aim of executing the export of used vehicles in Africa and Asia, especially in North African Regions and Middle Eastern countries.

The free zone accommodates the needs of all parties of export and import business as a marketplace, from manufacturers of cars and their authorised representatives to those engaged in sales and purchase of cards as well as maintenance, trading, and logistics, along with other services.

It was formerly known as DUCAMZ, or Dubai Cars and Automatize Zone. It is part of DP World UAE, which has its headquarters in Dubai. It is a port operator and global-scale logistics division. The management of JAFZA runs DAZ, leading to this free zone enjoying equal strength in logistics.

Decide if DAZ company formation is the correct choice for you

— Yes If

  • Your business is related to automobiles or similar business objectives. DAZ is one of the world’s largest free zones, exclusively catering to the automobile industry, providing unmatched business opportunities in this sector.
  • You are looking for a solution for a business setup with exclusive connections to major logistic hubs. DAZ is run under the management of the JAFZA free zone and enjoys equal opportunities in terms of logistics with proximity to air harbors and sea ports.
  • You are seeking a free zone with amenities, services, and all infrastructure that includes showrooms, retail zones, and in-house customs.
  • You’re looking for a reputable free zone, as DP World is the main holding under which DAZ functions. This allows excellent networking and easier operations related to banks.

— No If

  • Your planned business activity is not remotely related to the car industry. If you’re planning to operate in logistics and heavy industrial operations, we recommend IFZA and JAFZA-free zones.
  • You’re looking for remote setup of your business, as personal presence is required in the case of DAZ.
  • You’re looking to setup your business outside of Dubai.

DAZ company formation process

JAFZA also administers setting up new businesses in DAZ. You can also start the process without your presence, but after your company has issued formal documents, you must visit the free zone.

To register a license in the DAZ, you must obtain a space in the bounds of the free zone because we presume that you will need some area to either display or store your car or both.

DAZ usually has limited space. Therefore, you need to enlist beforehand to express your interest and mention the type of space that you need. When the space mentioned above is accessible, you will get clearance to start the process of registering your license.

It is estimated that Dubai Auto Zone takes 5-6 weeks to complete the entire process, which includes acquiring a license from the authorities and registering.

You may need to wait an extra 7-10 working days to get a hold of an immigration card and a visa.

Step 1: Select the type of business you will carry out and the type of license you’ll need.

Ascertain the activities your business will perform and the kind of license it will need.

This step is essential for your business to be fruitful because if you make a mistake in selecting your business type and license, it will lead to long-term issues, such as obstacles in registration.

This prevents you from opening your future bank account or applying for residential visas for the company members.

Step 2: To ascertain the judicial aspect of your business

You must mention the legal position of your line of work. DAZ has multiple kinds of formation for setting up a business based on the number of shareholders and line of work

Free Zone Establishment (FZE): A limited liability company with just one shareholder who may be a person or a company (non-individual)

Free Zone Company (FZCO): An LLC that has more than two shareholders that may be formed of both individuals and companies

Branch: If a parent company opens a branch within DAZ with complete ownership, it will assume 100% responsibility for the name and the line of business. The parent companies might either be foreign or UAE-based.

The options to form the companies are limited to foreign ownership.

Step 3: Preparation and filing of the required documentation

Submission and preparation of all required documents together with the application form. Depending on the business activities, license, and type of company, the list of necessary documents for Dubai Auto Zone varies. It is advisable to consult with specialists in this sector for proper guidance through the process.  The basic requirements are given below:

  • NOC from the sponsor for UAE resident applicants
  • Parents company profile
  • 3 months bank statement
  • Personal information form
  • Passport copy of the manager
  • Project summary
  • Application form

If your future company is an FZE or FZCO, you will need to provide these documents additionally.

  • Original FZE/FZCO application form
  • Specimen of manager’s signature
  • Manager’s passport copy
  • Board resolution—attested by the UAE embassy
  • Articles of Association and Memorandum with UAE embassy attestation

This step involved paying all processing and registration fees, which are AED 545 and non-refundable.

Step 4: Collection of the registration documents and license

Secure the registration documents and license for the company, including:

  • Lease agreement
  • Share certificate
  • Articles of association and memorandum
  • Business License
  • Certificate of incorporation

Step 5: Secure your establishment card

Your establishment card contains all the necessary information about your company and quotes for visas.

Step 6: Apply for an entry permit

If you are absent from the UAE during the processing of the entry permit, you will need to come to the country when the document is issued within the next 60 days to complete the biometrics and medical test for the visa.

If you’re in the UAE when the permit is issued, your status will change from your previous residency visa for a UAE tourist visa to the new one. The process of issuance of the entry permit takes about five to seven days.

Step 7: Submission of visa documents after medical test

Undergo the medical checkup and submit documents for the application of the Emirates ID and resident visas. Different packages for visas are available on the basis of the employees of the company and owners.

Step 8: Collect your Emirates ID

Secure your Emirates ID card once your visa has been issued.

Step 9: Open a bank account

Apply to any corporate bank in the UAE. Once you receive your account details, you can start operating your business.
