SAIF — Sharjah Airport Free Zone Company Setup

About SAIF

Founded in 1995, the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF) is currently home to more than 7,000 businesses, including the most prominent Middle Eastern enterprises.

With more than two billion people within four hours’ travel, it offers businesses great connectivity and access to a sizable consumer base. It is located just next to Sharjah International Airport. Sharjah is responsible for around 34% of the UAE’s industrial activity, highlighting SAIF’s crucial role in the region’s industrial sector.

It has the most advanced infrastructure and is among the nation’s oldest free zones. Any business can lease offices, warehouses, land, and other facilities, like SAIF’s own Jewelry Park, which offers flexibility to meet various business requirements. It is the only industrial free zone with extensive greenery in the United Arab Emirates.

There are many benefits to starting a business in SAIF, including complete repatriation of capital and profits, exemption from import and export duties, 100% foreign ownership, and exemption from personal and corporate income taxes.

The location of SAIF is ideal for trading, manufacturing, and logistics companies looking to start a business in the United Arab Emirates on a budget because it is near significant seaports and other airports, including Sharjah International Airport. Additionally, each company’s resident visa allotment is higher than in similar zones.

Is AMC suitable for your business?

— Yes If

  • If you’re searching for a cost-effective business setup solution in the United Arab Emirates, especially in Sharjah, SAIF offers very low charges.
  • If your company deals with manufacturing, trade, or logistics, SAIF offers great logistical options because it is close to Sharjah International Airport, other airports, and the major seaports in the United Arab Emirates.
  • SAIF provides a range of fully furnished offices, warehouses, land plots, and other amenities if you’re looking for a free zone with advanced infrastructure.
  • If you’re searching for a free zone with a quick and easy startup process, Company Setup in Sharjah Airport Free Zone offers a one-day formation process.

— No If

  • If you want to start a business in Dubai or need a remote business setup.
  • If your company’s operations are non-industrial, don’t call for logistics or storage facilities. We advise applying to Sharjah Media City or SHAMS Free Zone for similar activities.

SAIF company formation process

SAIF allows business owners to form free zone companies either on their own or with the help of a business adviser. On the day of the application, the license is immediately granted.

Step 1: Choose your business activities and license type

Choose the license type that corresponds to the business operations of your future enterprise. A successful business setup depends on this factor because selecting the incorrect license and activity might result in mistakes during company registration, making it difficult to open a bank account or get residency visas for you and your staff.

Step 2: Determine the legal entity of your business

Identify your company’s legal standing within the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone. SAIF offers three different company formation options: FZE (Free Zone Establishment), FZC (Free Zone Company), or branches of an existing domestic or international business.

Step 3: Prepare and file the required documentation

Compile the required paperwork and send it in with the application. SAIF only needs a few documents to start a company:

  • Passport
  • Passport-size photo
  • Residential address, phone number, and e-mail of the owner

Owners of businesses can personally register their companies with SAIF. Depending on the security approval procedure, the license may be granted immediately on the day of application, or it may take a few working days. Paying all registration and processing costs is another requirement for this phase of the process.

Step 4: Collect the license and registration documents

Get the company’s license and registration documents, which include:

  • Certificate of Incorporation
  • Business License
  • Memorandum and Articles of Association
  • Investment Service Agreement
  • Share certificate
  • Lease agreement

Step 5: Secure your Establishment Card

Get the Establishment Card with your company’s details and visa quotations.

Step 6: Apply for an entry permit

Submit an application for a permit of entry. If you are not in the UAE when the entry permit is being processed, you will have to return within 60 days of the document’s issuance to finish the biometrics and medical examination required for your visa.

Your prior UAE tourist or resident visa status will be changed to the new one if you are in the country when the entry permit is granted.

Step 7: Take a medical test and submit visa documents

Complete a medical examination and apply for a residency visa. The number of visas available for the company’s owners and employees may vary depending on the registration package.

Step 8: Collect your Emirates ID

Once your visa is issued, secure your Emirates ID card.

Step 9: Open a bank account

To open a corporate bank account, submit an application to a UAE bank. You can begin operating your business as soon as you get your account details.

SAIF licenses and business activities

The Sharjah Airport Free Zone Business Setup includes a wide range of industries, primarily associated with trade, industry, and logistics, but it also contains certain hard-to-get service operations, including jewelry production, freight forwarding, shipping, and “investment of own funds.”

Additional fees will be required if the activities are irrelevant, although the free zone permits having several operations under the license for your Sharjah company creation. The availability of all business activities must be verified because SAIF currently does not release its activity list.

These are the business license categories that SAIF supports, along with details of each.

Commercial License: The economy is based on trade. You can create a retail, wholesale, or import-export business with a commercial license, giving you access to both domestic and international markets.

Consultancy License: With a consulting license, you can assist companies in expanding and developing by providing qualified advice to corporations and individuals in fields like finance, marketing, and business.

Technical Services License: This license enables you to offer various technical services, including equipment installation, maintenance, and repairs, to businesses and individuals in the United Arab Emirates.

Gold Trading License: Investing in gold is always rewarding. In the highly profitable business setup in UAE-free zones, purchase and sell gold and precious metals with a gold trading license.

E-Commerce License: Use social media and online platforms to sell products and services both inside and outside of the United Arab Emirates with an e-commerce license.

Only one of these categories may apply to your license. You will need to buy an extra license if you wish to mix them. E-commerce, in particular, is covered under the commercial license.

Activities also permit the production and assembly of your products, as well as the storage and consolidation of products listed in your license.

SAIF facilities

Sharjah Airport International Free Zone is one of the few free zones that provides ready-to-move-in amenities that will probably work for any company thinking about setting up business in Sharjah.

All office types have top-notch IT and telecom equipment, and the warehouses include air-conditioned offices with kitchens, pantry areas, and air conditioning. The amount of money you spend on warehouse fit-out will be minimal.

Apart from that, SAIF boasts the following facilities:

  • Staff accommodation premises
  • Jewelry Park
  • Container parking
  • Temporary warehouses

SAIF’s Jewelry Park is a comprehensive, field-focused facility for producing jewelry and trading with numerous respectable jewelry companies. Even though SAIF is mostly focused on manufacturing, it has a lot of green areas with beautiful landscaping.

SAIF residence visas

Opening a resident visa is typically required for company formation in SAIF. An employee’s visa is good for two years, and the owner’s visa is valid for three.
