Step 1: Identify Your Business Activity and Legal Form

• LLC for setups with two or more investors

Step 2: Register Your Trade Name

Apply through the DET portal, website, or mobile app. Your trade name must:

• Reflect your licensed business activity
• Include the legal form abbreviation, for example, LLC

• Not reference religion, government bodies, or anything that violates public order

Step 3: Obtain Initial Approval from DET

Initial approval is the UAE government’s confirmation that it has no objection to you proceeding. It doesn’t authorize you to operate yet. Foreign investors must also obtain approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs at this stage.
