Reservations for hotels and return tickets are now mandatory under the updated rules. Applicants must upload these documents at the time of application on the Emigration Department website.
Tourist visas can only be applied for through travel agencies, but visit visas can be applied for by individuals, families, or trading companies. The same documentation requirements apply to both tourist and visit visas.
In an effort to improve compliance and accelerate the application process, the Dubai Emigration Department has announced new, more stringent standards for acquiring a tourist visa. When applying for a visa, travelers will now need to include a copy of their return ticket and hotel booking paperwork with a QR code.
Due to the possibility of delays, the change requires travel agents to make sure certain documents are part of the application process. Keep reading below to learn more.
Along with the documentation changes, applicants must use their credit or debit cards to prove they have enough money. For a two-month visa, the minimum amount is 5,000 dirhams, and for a three-month visa, it is 3,000 dirhams.

Due to challenges providing the necessary documentation, several applicants have encountered delays in the processing of their visas. Previously, tourists just had to present their hotel reservations and return tickets upon inquiry from airport immigration officials.
The goal of these new regulations, which already apply to citizens of Pakistan and several African countries, is to guarantee compliance and expedite the visa application process.
It’s unclear, though, if foreigners living in the United Arab Emirates will also have to provide comparable paperwork when requesting visitation visas for their relatives.
Indian passport holders can choose from a variety of visa options for both short-term and long-term visits to Dubai. These choices include the new five-year multiple-entry visa, non-extendable visas, and visa-on-arrival.
In Dubai, Indian visitors can benefit from a 14-day visa-on-arrival period that can be extended for a further 14 days. To be eligible, they need to have a valid USA visit visa, USA green card, UK residence visa, or EU residence visa. As long as visitors fulfill the requirements, this option offers flexibility for short stays.
A 60-day non-extendable visa is available to visitors who intend to stay for a more extended period of time. This visa is a sensible choice for travelers or visiting relatives and friends because the costs align with UAE laws.
To boost tourism and improve commercial ties between the two countries, Dubai has introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa for Indian nationals. This visa is appropriate for business professionals, frequent tourists, and people with family in the region because it permits frequent travel to Dubai.
With a noticeable rise in the number of Indian tourists in recent years, Dubai has become a popular travel destination for Indians. Over 2.2 million Indian tourists visited Dubai in 2023 alone, a 22% rise from the year before.
Improved connectivity, the attraction of upscale shopping and entertainment, and the city’s standing as a secure travel destination are reasons for this increase.
Dubai’s tourism industry is doing well overall; in 2023, the emirate welcomed 17.2 million foreign visitors, more than before the pandemic. With 9.3 million overnight visitors in the first half of 2024, an 8% increase over the same period in 2023, this rising trend continues to grow.
High-end hotel services have significantly increased, with 5-star hotels seeing an amazing 111.4% growth, reflecting the specific success of the luxury hospitality sector. Dubai’s strong economy and large investments in infrastructure and tourism experiences are driving this rise.
There are several reasons behind this growing tendency in Indian tourists:
Implementing new visa rules for Indian visitors may significantly impact Dubai’s tourism industry, and the larger UAE economy may result in longer visa processing times, even though they are intended to improve security and accelerate the immigration procedure.
According to industry experts, “such delays may discourage Indian visitors who favor short vacations from making impromptu travel reservations.”
It is estimated by economists that in 2024, the tourism industry will account for over AED 236 billion, or 12% of the UAE’s GDP. Any obstacle brought on by delays in visa processing could have a detrimental effect on this growth trajectory. Sustaining visitor numbers requires a smooth travel experience because tourism is vital to Dubai’s economy.
These new visa requirements need careful planning on the part of Indian travelers who are considering excursions to Dubai. Travelers may need more time to apply for visas and ensure their paperwork is well organized. Longer trip planning lead times could result from this, which might affect impulsive travel choices.
Additionally, visitors could feel more worried about any hold-ups or issues throughout the visa application procedure. Travelers should be proactive in understanding the new requirements and preparing their applications well in advance.
